I’m a mid thirties American and i feel like I can recount on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen an informational debate go so respectfully in politics it makes me upset at this realization.

Congress needs to NOT regulate anything on the internet.
Can someone elaborate / answer, some thoughts below
Point 1: token holders can vote. But the management of the protocol doesn’t necessarily have to listen. Look af $TIME and wonderland as some recent controversies. The voting mechanism is the spirit of crypto but developers can still deviate to what’s voted.
There is still an element of being controlled by centralized figure , in this case the developers. Let alone the development team has a large proportion of tokens.
Point 2: which token holders will vote is another question. Those who are speculative and amateurs who trade on platforms like Binance will unlikely to understand benefits of protocol proposals. Why let uneducated people vote on the direction of the development ? How many decisions are voted by token holders – very much the same way shareholders only vote on important decisions of a corporate ? Many true democracies have failed to be successful as an example.
I’m a proponent and fan of crypto and the spirit of decentralization but have some questions of how it practically works
