I understand that there are three irreversible steps to glycolysis and then several reversible steps. If someone asked on a test if glycolysis was reversible what is the correct answer? It seems to be both.

Can anyone explain the significance of knowing the rate limiting enzymes for the major metabolic pathways? Why is it important to know them; by knowing them, what will it help you answer?

Conversion of pyruvate to acetyl coA is irreversible reaction catalyzed by pyruvate dehydrogenase.
